Moving Files and Folders When Departing
Continue Accessing Data After Moving On
Getting the data from a user's H Drive requires that to have a medium to transfer the data onto. This can be in the form of a CD, DVD, flash drive, or portable hard drive. Each of these types have their own size limitations, so depending on the amount stored on the H drive all of the data may not be able to transfer at once. You also require a connection to the H drive. If you are on a Vetmed computer, this should be done by default. If you are working from home, you may have to follow these instructions to access your H drive. To copy the data:
Instructions for Windows
Opening File Browser in Windows 7:
- Click the Start button in the bottom left corner of your screen.
- Click "Computer".
Opening File Browser in Windows 8 and 10:
- Right-Click the Start button.
- Click "File Browser"
- If on Windows 10, click "This PC" in the left column of the File Browser window.
Copying Files:
- Under "Network Locations", click your H drive, which should be listed as username on 'vetmed\cvmdata...'
- Select the files you wish to transfer. This can be accomplished by holding the left mouse button, then dragging the cursor over all of the files that you wish to select. To select all the files, hold down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and click on the files you wish to copy.
- Click the right mouse button and select "Copy" or use the keyboard command "Ctrl+C".
- Open the device that you want to transfer the files to.
- Right click inside that device's window and select "Paste".
- Wait until all of the files have been transferred.
Instructions for Mac

- Navigate to your H drive directory by clicking Private, your department, and then finding your username.
- Right click the folder labeled with your username and select 'Copy "username"' or use the keyboard command Command+C.
- Open the device that you want to transfer the files to.
- Right click inside that device's window and select "Paste Item".
- Wait until all of the files have been transferred.
