Connect to WSU Wireless

Below are tutorials on how to connect to the WSU Wireless.  Available to all WSU Students/Staff/Faculty.

Windows 10
  1. Locate your Wireless icon at the bottom right corner in the icon toolbar
  2. It will expand, showing you all available networks in range
  3. Select WSU Wireless, mark the check box to "Connect automatically" and hit Connect
  4. Sign In/Authentication page will appear, enter your WSUNID and password and hit OK
  5. You will get a prompt to validate our server’s certificate. Clicking on “Show certificate details” should give a thumbprint of “ED 40 A2 55 9E ED 56 FE C0 00 F5 FE 93 55 1F 00 B0 B8 BD BD”.
  6. Once connection has been established, you should see "Connected" displayed underneath the WSU Wireless tab
Windows 8
  1. Left click on the Wireless icon in the lower right corner in the icon toolbar
  2. click on WSU Wireless, check the "Connect automatically" box and click Connect
  3. Sign in box will appear, enter your WSUNID and password then select Connect
  4. If successful, "Connected" will be displayed underneath your WSU Wireless status
Windows 7
  1. Click the Wireless icon on the bottom right in the icon toolbar
  2. Select WSU Wireless, check the "Connect automatically" box and select Connect
  3. Sign in box will appear, enter your WSUNID and password then select Connect
  4. Click Connect on the "Windows Security Alert" pop up window.  You can verify the connection by looking at the "details" if needed.  Radius Server should be:  radius.wsu.edu
  5. Wait for the computer to connect to WSU Wireless
  6. Then select a Network Location that suits you your needs
  7. You should now be connected to the WSU Wireless
Mac Setup
  1. Click the Wi-Fi button in the top right-hand corner of your screen and click to Turn Wi-Fi On.
  2. If you do not see the Wi-Fi button in the top right-hand corner of your screen, you can access your Wi-Fi settings by clicking the Apple button in the top left-hand corner, then System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi in the left box.
  3. After turning on the Wi-Fi, choose the WSU Wireless network.
  4. Then a sign-in box will appear.  Enter your WSUNID and password then click Join to sign in(Same as myWSU)
  5. Verify that the certificate is for the server “radius.wsu.edu” then click Continue to accept the certificate

 

Android Device
  1. At the Home Screen, place a finger at the top of your screen and swipe down.  This should display a menu.
  2. In this menu you should see Wi-Fi icon saying "Wireless Networks Available".  Tap on that icon.
  3. Select WSU Wireless from the listed networks in range.
  4. Enter your WSUNID and password and select Connect.
  5. When are connected successfully you should see a Wi-Fi meter at the top of your screen indicating your connection to "WSU Wireless"
iOS Device
  1. Locate the Settings app on your device
  2. Go to the Wi-Fi tab in Settings
  3. Turn Wi-Fi ON
  4. You will then see all available networks.  Select WSU Wireless
  5. Then enter your WSUNID and password and select Join
  6. Verify and accept the security certificate (it will be from radius.wsu.edu issued by AddTrust External CA Root).
  7. When successfully connected, you'll notice a check mark displayed next to WSU Wireless
WSU Wirelss Setup Settings

When using other clients or manually setting up a connection you should use these settings for connecting:

  • Wireless SSID: WSU Wireless
  • Securty: WPA2 Enterprise
  • Encryption: AES
  • Authentication type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
  • Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Identity and password: Your WSU username and password (same as myWSU, Blackboard, etc.)
